We have been incredibly blessed with lots of travel this year, and we have done a terrible job of documenting it. About the time we get film back from one adventure, we are off on another. Its pretty great really.
At the end of April I got to take a trip to New York with three of my best, and first, friends. It was Andrea’s birthday and when we stumbled upon affordable tickets to JFK, we decided to celebrate big! The four of us met in Seattle and caught a red-eye out of Sea-Tac armed with Play-doh and Tattlys to begin a grand adventure. We rented a cute little brownstone in Brooklyn and took the train into the city each day.
In the past we have only ever stayed in Manhattan so it was sort of charming to wake up on a quiet street, grab a cup of coffee and head underground to emerge right into the hustle and bustle that is New York City. Having been several times in the past, Andrea and I had the pleasure of showing newcomers some of our favorite spots, while discovering new treasures along the way.
Here are just a few favorites from this trip:
•Buffalo Exchange in Chelsea: Lots of designer brands at good prices
•Fried Dumplings in Chinatown: 5 for $1.00!
•Fort Green Flea in Brooklyn
•Peaches in Brooklyn: Delicious southern food. The HotHouse is pretty great also.
•Standing “seats” for Lucky Guy on Broadway: Only $29.00! Oh,and we got to see Tom Hanks live.
•The High Line: Don’t forget to grab a People’s Pop
It has been a big year with these friends. One of the hardest and one of the most beautiful in many aspects. Through shared experiences we have grown closer and spent more time together. These three are some of the best people I know.
*The black and white photos were taken with a Contax T2 on 35mm film. The color photos were taken with an iPhone by either Andrea or me.
